Words can not describe how awesome this video is! Essentially what they did was use the Microsoft Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360 with the libfreenect driver which allows people to interface the Kinect with Linux. The graphical interface was inspired by Minority Report (clearly) and uses hand detection software written at MIT with an open source robotics package ‘ROS’, which was developed by Willow Garage.
This project does a great job showing off how advanced the Kinect Technology really is. The fact of the matter is that there is a lot of potential with this device, I’m definitely going to go pick one up in the near future (I advise you to do the same, even if you don’t have an Xbox).
