I have noticed that people were having trouble setting up mIRC for Justin.tv. So I decided I’d go ahead and take care of all the hard stuff myself and provide you guys with a nice easy way to install mIRC

(you must be whitelisted to use mIRC, get whitelisted by going to http://www.justin.tv/p/whitelist/)

All you need is:

This no longer works. JTV refuses to whitelist anyone now. They use that stupid meebo interface

Well it wasn’t because of meebo, meebo is just what replaced the IMing system, they’ve always used the same irc chat, they just stopped whitelisting since it ws becoming too time consuming with the number of requests.

BUT! They did realize that was a problem so now everyone can use an irc client by default just they can’t be in more than 5 channels at the same time (for anti spam reasons). So this guide still works, just skip over the whitelisting step

Hey, I tried this out but when I’m trying to connect to the channel it tells me I need to connect to the url and port 6667 and if I did that and am still getting a message I should try connecting to an IP address that it provides.. But I’m not sure where to put that to connect.. Am I doing something wrong??

This script is working fine, I even made it more “user friendly” by adding context menu support on right click of a nickname. If you want to do the same just go to Scripts – Popups tab – View menu – Nick List , and add the fallowing :
