To fix your Samsung Vibrant’s GPS functionality just follow the following steps (I hear it works on other Galaxy S phones as well, but I can’t confirm this).

1. Go to Settings -> Location & Security
2. Uncheck “Use Wireless Networks”
3. Now navigate to the Phone dialer and type: “*#*#1472365#*#*” (No quotes of course)
4. When you type that you’ll be thrown into the LBSTestMode Menu
5. Click the “Applications Settings” menu, than switch Operation Mode to “MS Based”
6. Click back then go into “SUPL/CP Settings” and change the server to: “supl.google.com” and the server port to “7276″
7. Reboot your phone
8. Go back to Settings -> Location & Security
9. Check “Use Wireless Networks”

Now your GPS should be good to go (if Samsung notices this problem and releases a patch, I recomend changing your GPS settings back to the original settings before updating, original settings are listed below).

Operation Mode: Standalone
Server: www.spirent-lcs.com
Port: 7275

If Samsung is to fix this update I’ll make sure I include an update to this post with that information!

Hopefully this fixes the problem most of you have been having, and if my instructions are too difficult let me know and I’ll include a video on how to fix your GPS.

Now if you remember back when the iPad was being introduced in the Steve Jobs keynote a few months ago, he mentioned that the device is unlocked and you can use any carrier (that uses gsm) with the iPad. Well I though we should put that to the test, the only problem is that the iPad uses Micro-Sim cards rather then the standard Sim Card. Well thanks to my awesome brain (my awesome brain = google) you can make your T-Mobile iPad dreams come to life!

Before you even waste your time reading how to do it, lets settle a few things before. There are two positives towards doing this, one you actually have service and two you are paying less for data with no cap. Now there is a negative…which is a huge negative and will probably pull most of you away from doing this, you can only use edge, the iPad doesn’t support the same 3G frequency that T-Mobile uses.

Now using another carrier is as simple as using the Sim Removal tool (or paperclip) to take out the sim card in the iPad, then popping in a new one (thanks to the iPad being unlocked). However the problem is the microsim, now you have a 3 options:

Option 1: Buy a T-Mobile Micro-Sim

Now this is pretty straight forward, simply buy a T-Mobile microsim then activate it (Click me for an Amazon link).

Option 2: Buy a Sim Cutter

In all honesty, you’re better off going with Option 1 if you’re using T-mobile, however if you’re in another country or in an area where there are other GSM providers who don’t have Micro-Sims, this is really nice to use since it’s so precise. If you look at the image below, all you do is pop your sim in, press the tool, and a MicroSim pops out.

Option 3: Make one yourself

If you have no other options (or if you’re incredibly cheap like me), then this is one thing you can do. Use the AT&T Microsim that comes with the iPad as a template, then simply cut with scissors. Make sure you don’t cut any of the gold and you should be fine!

2. Search for “SBSettings” and install it
3. Exit Cydia and swipe the top like shown in the picture below.



4. In the menu shown hit “more”
5. Then click “Extras & Options”
6. Then turn on “Numeric Battery”
7. Click back then hit menu to go back to your home screen
8. Now your percentage battery should show up!

Steps:

1. Plug your iPhone/iPod into your computer, open iTunes and backup your content (to backup right click the device and hit “backup”
2. Restore your iPhone Firmware to 3.1.2 firmware.
3. Once restored open the blackra1n application that we downloaded earlier
4. Click “make it rain” then wait for your iPhone to restart
5. On your iPhone click the blackra1n icon and choose the items you want to install (Cydia/Rock)

Enjoy your jailbroken and unlocked iPhone

Installation Procedure:

1. Click the Apple drop down menu and select “Software Update…”
2. Select the updates you want and make sure that “EFI 1.8 Update” is selected.
3. During the install it will prompt you to click the shutdown button and do so.
4. Click the power button and WAIT. The screen will remain black for around 15-30 seconds, afterwards you will see a Apple loading screen soon after your computer will startup.
5. Once your computer is booted go to “Software Update…” once again and now a superdrive update should appear, select and install that.

After installing these updates your computer should no longer make any noise when going to sleep and when it’s awoken.

NOTE: Some users have stated that their computers have slown down after installing this update, I however haven’t noticed any speed differences (if you do try resetting your PRAM).

Make sure you have a method of moving your games (ex. flash drive, external hdd, ethernet, etc)

1. Open “My Computer” and select your hard drive (in my case local disk C:/).
2. Open the folder “Program Files”
3. Open the folder called “Steam” and copy the folder “SteamApps” (This folder holds all your games AND game saves)
4. Paste this folder in an external hard drive/flash drive (or use some method to transferring this folder to your new computer)
5. On the New computer move replace your old SteamApps folder with the new one and all your Games/Game Saves will be transferred

Before we get started there is some lingo you need to know to understand some things.

• Stream- You video broadcast
• Broadcaster- Person streaming video
• Lifecast- Constant streaming of your day-to-day life
• Viewer- Person watching stream
• Resolution- Size and quality of video
• Moderator- Person who is chosen by broadcaster to monitor chat and discipline chatters if need be.
• Staff- Person who works for the host website
• Pro*- Person who has paid to get ads removed
• Slow Mode- Puts the chat cap on the amount of message sent for a certain amount of time
• Voiced- Slow Mode does not effect a voiced person, also used to show importance
• Bot- A nonhuman controlled chatting bot, usually used to play games and automate messages
• FME- Short for Flash Media Encoder, used to broadcast with more customization
• Bit Rate- Rate at which video is transferred higher bit rate the better the quality
• Lag- Delay between real time and video time

Purpose of Stream

What is the point of your stream? Its hard to throw a camera in front of you and keep it entertaining. While there are people who will show up they most times will not stay. If you are broadcasting a trivia show do not have a stream of video games.

Webcam Position

In the camera world there is a rule know as the “rule of thirds”. Imagine a tic-tac-toe bored across your camera view. Anything where the lines cross is going to be more interesting.

Blue Area are a good place to put your subject.

Now this rule is always subject to your surroundings and abilities. The rule is used very little in the internet video world because most time the background is less appealing than when you would take a photo. This does not mean you should not use the rule of thirds. It simple means that you should consider what the camera is showing.

The background is important in the sense that you do not want something very distracting in the background. No televisions or places with a lot of activity (buses, parks, streets). You want the subject of the video to be very clear and clean. If you are broadcasting somewhere were there is a lot of activity zoom in on yourself (not to close). If you are somewhere dark, turn on a light and vice versa.

Lighting

The lighting for a internet video is very important you do not want too much light making a glare but not enough light making it hard to see. The best way to get an good light exposure is to use overhead lighting and behind camera lighting. No lighting should be towards camera or at low spots. You want to eliminate as many shadows as possible. Remember to always go off what the camera sees not you. It is important to use what looks best, if a light makes it look bad then do not use it.

Windows XP:

1. Right click the audio icon in your system tray and click properties.
2. Click the recording tab.
3. Under recording devices click properties then check off “Stereo Mix.

Windows Vista/7:

1. Right click the audio icon in your system tray and click recording properties.
2. If “Stereo Mix” is present select that as your device and hit okay, if not go on to step 3.
3. Right click the white space and check of “Show Disabled Devices”
4. Stereo Mix should then be presented, enable it and then activate it as your device, then hit okay.

Now in your broadcaster window (in this case, the Justin.tv broadcaster) and select Stereo Mix (or the soundcard if you’re on Windows XP) as your source then every noise your computer makes is broadcasting

Your playing a game and you minimize or do something and you get a pop up that says the Windows Theme has been reset. Now what?

If the windows theme changes or you cannot change it back to the color you wanted do the following:

1. right-click on your desktop and click on ‘Personalize’.

2. Click Window’s Color and Appearance

POSSIBLE PROBLEM: Many users reported that, after they click on ‘Window Color and Appearance’, they see a window like the one below.

If this applies to you, then choose Windows Aero in the Color scheme list, click on OK and restart the procedure described above. You will now find all the menus and options described above.

Now that you have fixed your theme you can stop complaining about Vista for an hour till something else breaks.

1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Go into single user mode (hold the Apple and S key at the same time while booting your machine).
3. When you get into terminal type in the folowing:
   • mount -uw /
   • rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
   • Shutdown -h now
4. Follow the on screen instructions (should look like the same setup from when you initially turned on your mac

After you follow the steps it should make you a brand new admin account! From there you can either change your old password and log back into your former account or you can delete your old account and start with a close to new machine

This method does work on both Leopard and Snow Leopard!

• iPhone or iPod touch with 3.0 firmware (or higher)
• A Google Account

1.Go to Settings->Mail, Contacts,Calendars
2. Tap “Add account”
3. Select “Microsoft Exchange”

4.  In the Email field, enter your full Google Account email address. If you use an @googlemail.com address, you may see an “Unable to verify certificate” warning when you proceed to the next step.
5. Leave the Domain blank.
6. Enter your full Google Account email address as the Username.
7. Enter your Google Account password as the Password.
8. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
9. Choose Accept if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
10. A new Server field will appear. Enter m.google.com.
11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.



12. Select the Google services you want to sync.
13. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone option when prompted. This will also allow you to keep syncing with your computer via iTunes.

Step 2: Open Cydia and Search for “activatemms2g”

Step 3: Download/Install the app and restart your iPhone.

Step 4: Go to settings->Network->Cellular Data Network

Step 5: Enter in your MMS Information and restart your phone.  (Click me if you don’t know your MMS Information)

Step 6: Go to messages and the photo icon for MMS should be presented
